The Monroe House is one of the darkest and most terrifying locations in Hartford City, Indiana.
Reported activity includes voices, shadows, unexplained sounds, and physical attacks.

Location History
Sitting quietly atop a hill in Hartford City is a white, two-story house, overlooking the neighborhood.
At first glance, this house could easily be seen as just another forgotten relic of earlier times gone by.
You are standing in front of an absolutely formidable and frightening location…The Monroe House!
The history of the Monroe House is incomplete and fragmented. It is believed the house was built in 1892 by John Berger, replacing an unknown structure built in the 1860’s. John Berger died shortly after from tuberculosis. After the death of John Berger, the property was damaged by a fire in the shed.
After the death of John Berger, the property was rented to the Miars family. Ulysses Miars was a well-respected figure of the community. Shortly after moving into the Monroe House, Ulysses Miars became angry and abusive without explanation. Ulysses eventually took his money and disappeared.
These events led to citizens of the community wondering if Monroe House had some sort of curse. Over the next 100 years, no tenant stayed in the house for more than one year. Whispers around Hartford City told of the possibilities of occult activity taking place in the basement during the 1990’s.
The house was bought by Pam and Eddie Norris in 2003. Due to the stories of paranormal activity, Monroe House has become a highly sought spot for paranormal investigators, television shows, and those looking to uncover the past that Monroe House fights so hard to keep hidden.
